In its fourth year the Four Course Classic did extremely well and raised over £60,000 towards our fight against muscle disease! 2012 saw 160 intrepid golfers taking on this epic challenge. The teams teed off at 4am on Friday 22 June, embarking on a mammoth 20 mile journey and finally arriving at the 73rd hole as the light began to fade.
You can still see the live feed from the day.
But it wasn’t just for the challenge of playing four different courses in a day, or the chance to play new and exciting courses, the Four Course Classic was also a fundraising event in aid of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. And with over £60,000 raised to help in the fight against muscle wasting conditions, this event really has taken the golf world by storm.
The money raised from this year’s event will help us to continue our vital work in fighting muscle-wasting conditions and, by finding treatments and cures for these conditions, to improve the lives of everyone affected by them. Your contribution really does make a difference; we get no government funding and we rely almost entirely on voluntary donations and legacies to fund our work. Our fight against muscle-wasting conditions depends on the support of people like you!
The support from golf courses for the Four Course Classic has been overwhelming, with around 400 clubs pledging their support. Golfers wanting to take on this marathon challenge had the chance to play top courses like St Andrews, Royal Ashdown and the Celtic Manor, as well as hundreds more.
We have grand plans to build on the success of this year’s Four Course Classic, and we’d be delighted if you could join us in 2013 For more information visit our website or contact the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
